Timeline for construction: 1 - 2 years for each Phase
Monetary Goal for each Phase: 100K – 150K, with $1 million cap

Note: Timeline and estimated monetary goals are based on research performed in Tanzania, interviewing school administrators and architectural engineers.

  1. Phase I
    • Land Acquisition (approximately 10 acres)
    • Architectural school site map and drawings
    • Working budget
    • Purchase of building/school construction permits
    • Fencing and security for school premises
  2. Phase II
    • Construction of Nursery School
      Nursery School education in Tanzania differs from the U.S. system. It has three levels for 4, 5 and 6 year olds. The goal is the construct a day nursery school that will accommodate 30 students for each level. Total = 90 nursery school students. Note: Children begin walking miles daily from the age of 3, so walking miles to school is not unusual. Also, educators and psychologists in Tanzania are encouraging parents not to send children to boarding schools before the age of 7. In the past, nursery boarding schools were more common.
  3. Phase III
    • Construction of Primary School
      The Primary School has 7 levels (or grades) beginning at age 7. Our goal is construct 2 classrooms for each grade to accommodate 30 children in each classroom, totaling 420. (current number of students per classroom in public schools and most private schools is 40-45)
  4. Phase IV
    • Construction of Primary School Dormitory
      This dormitory space to accommodate 200 students. Other 220 students will be day students only.
  5. Phase V
    • Construction of Secondary School (O level: Form I – Form IV, equivalent to High School in US) 2 classrooms for each level to accommodate 30 students in each classroom, or 240 students total
  6. Phase VI
    • Construction of Secondary School Dormitory
      Goal is to accommodate 175 boarding students
  7. Phase VII
    • Vocational School Training Center
      The goal is to establish spaces for vocational training including bookkeeping, secretarial skill training, home economics, and IT/advanced computer training

  8. Phase VIII
    • Construction of Seconday School (A level: Form V – VI, equivalent to Junior College in US)
    • 2 classrooms for each level to accommodate 30 students in each classroom. Total 120 students.
  9. Phase IX
    • Construction of Secondary School Dormitory
      Goal is to accommodate all 120 students
Location

The site location is very near the town of Bukoba, a town of approximately 100,000 people, situated on the West side of Lake Victoria. Private schools in the area are attended by students from all areas of Tanzania.
